Ryan Bowden
Born: 02/07/1994
Nickname:

Ryan Bowden is a reliable offspinning allrounder, and picked up both the Incorrigibles batting and bowling awards in 2011, despite only turning 17 during that summer. He is strongest through the offside with the bat, and varies his pace well with the ball, to disguise the fact that he doesn't actually turn it... at all.

Chris Crook
Born:
Nickname: Nick Frost

The first signing to be a product of the club's new website, not only is Chris Crook unique in having contacted us online, but he is also the only prospective player who has first spoken to Dave Gooding about joining, and then still decided to join. He is also responsible for having paid off half the cost of the new pavilion on his own, through the sheer quantity of club kit he has already bought.

Andrew Crossman
Born: 17/05/1967
Nickname: Crossy Modo

Agricultural by profession and agricultural by technique, Andrew Crossman is a dangerous batsman when set, and also the only Witheridge cricketer to have ever scored an indoor hundred, whilst his flighted bowling retains its novelty value, even after many years with the club.

Alex Elston
Born:
Nickname:

It is probably safe to say that Alex Elston is the fastest bowler to have ever taken the new ball for Witheridge Cricket Club. A ruthless attacker, who once bowled a bouncer at a 60 year old man who was blind in one eye, he has a similar outlook on batting. If he doesn't get bowled for nought slogging at a straight one, then he is likely to be dismissed for 6, or 12, or 18, or 24, or...

Selwyn Elston
Born:
Nickname: Sellers

When Selwyn Elston bowls, umpires everywhere forget the LBW rule. If he doesn't take a wicket in his first over then he will come round the wicket to the right hander to bowl his skiddy right-arm away swingers, and either have them bowled or LBW when the ball has pitched a foot outside leg stump. When batting, his policy is simple: sweep everything.

David Fasey
Born:
Nickname:

He's got all the cups.

Ben Franks
Born:
Nickname: Franksy

Of all the wild claims in cricket history, perhaps none is more outrageous than Ben Franks claiming to have hit a six into the river at Barnstaple & Pilton, despite Ordnance Survey showing this to be nearly three hundred yards away. When not hitting stratospheric sixes, he is a bustling seam bowler who likes bowling slower balls in the nets that he never bowls in matches.

Dave Gooding
Born: 14/06/1876
Nickname: Goody, Lecter, Methuselah

The only current player older than the club itself is Dave Gooding. Not only does he provide both a reassuring, rock-like presence with the bat, and canny slow swingers with the ball, but he is also responsible for the ever-popular cricket club ski trip, which goes ahead every winter without fail, and without anybody else attending other than Dave himself.

Russell Hilton
Born: 17/11/1989
Nickname: Paris, Spud

Like Ricky Ponting and Waqar Younis all rolled into one, Russell Hilton is an outrageously talented all-rounder, capable of swinging both the old ball and new ball at pace. A Hilton innings is one to savour, full of sumptuous drives and cuts, though he is strong all around the wicket and off both the front foot and back. He also writes the player profiles for the club's blog.

James Hope
Born: 26/01/1983
Nickname:

No batsman bares the burden of more expectation, and no bowler takes more wickets on reputation alone, than James Hope. He captained the all-conquering Incorrigibles side in 2010 and earned a reputation for picking up regular three-wicket hauls - generally batsmen 9, 10 and 11 - whilst his batting continues to frustrate, whenever he falls for less than at least 150.

Jake McDonald
Born: 21/07/1971
Nickname: Hollywood

The youthful Jake McDonald is a fickle batsman, who averages far less in the second team than he does in the firsts. If the ball is pitched up then he can produce one of the finest off-drives in the team, but when the ball is short, well, then he'll also produce one of the finest off-drives in the team, but he'll just miss it instead.

Jason Parr
Born: 03/07/1990
Nickname: West Germany

On debut, Jason Parr hit 103 in a Nomansland total of 127 all out. He also made 99 in his first knock for Incorrigibles, only just missing out on becoming the second Witheridge player to make a century at the new ground. Since then, he remains crucial to any Witheridge batting effort. Meanwhile, his buffet bowling is inexplicable, being pacey and threatening yet regularly going at six an over.

Ed Reader
Born:
Nickname:

Despite numerous breathtaking catches at such a young age, wicketkeeper Ed Reader's legacy will forever be complaining that he "could taste fish" after colliding with Ben Franks in a game at Sampford Peverell in 2012. At 16, he is already considered one of the finest keepers that the club has ever had, and there is promise in his technically correct batting.

Les Rendall
Born: 12/06/1964
Nickname:

If Shane Warne was said to have invented a new delivery every time he visited English shores, then Les Rendall needs no such gimmicks. Well maybe just one, but his famous 'moonball' has endured many seasons in the North Devon League and claimed many of the biggest scalps. Loved for his banter as much as his batting, he is also capable of stopping tracer bullets in the field with his right boot.

Ed Strong
Born: 06/03/1991
Nickname: Strongbow

Ed Strong puts the "Ed" into "top edge coming". A new-ball bowler who bowls hooping away swing, he is never short of a word or two for the opposition batsman. As a batsman himself, he saves his best for midweek games playing for Rackenford, athough he is still capable of unexpected moments of magic such as his huge first ball six at North Molton in 2010.

Jamie Tapper
Born:
Nickname: Joel, Tupperware

Just because you own eighteen pairs of sunglasses for wearing on a cloudy day, doesn't make you a good offspinner, as Jamie Tapper discovered when conceding an Incorrigibles' record 32 runs off one over at Sampford Peverell. An off-break bowler who has to shorten his run up indoors, he has also been a consistent, if somewhat selfish, runmaker at the top of the order since joining in 2011.

Ashley Wreford
Born:
Nickname:

Somewhere between two and ten lies the optimum number of joints to extract a steller performance from Ashley Wreford. As a bowler, he operates with a slingy action and full and straight mode of attack. His unorthodox batting has become more reliable and seen him find his way up the order in the second eleven.
